Philosophy of Care

I chose my specialty because of my interest in the relationship of malnutrition to disease. I have 30 years of experience and unique insights into how diet and metabolism affect the prevention and management of gastrointestinal and other common diseases. When it comes to good health, it is very important for patients to understand the relationship of preventable risk factors--such as tobacco, improper diet, lack of exercise and excessive alcohol consumption--to disease. Accurate diagnosis, close personal contact and the ability to inspire trust are essential to developing an effective treatment plan for patients. The UC Davis Medical Center gives me the opportunity to provide this kind of care, including the most complex diagnosis and treatment.
