UC Davis Health System recognition programs
The UC Davis Health System has numerous recognition programs, all designed to recognize and reward staff members. This document identifies the general parameters for granting Recognition Awards to UC Davis Health System staff.
In addition to the recognition awards, managers and administrators may be eligible for Clinical Enterprise Management Recognition Awards. The parameters of this program for Senior Administrators are identified by the Office of the President and are based upon goal setting. For Managers, the program is modeled after the Office of the President guidelines related to goal setting.
Purpose
The purpose of the awards is to:
- Provide a visible and powerful way to communicate and reinforce those behaviors and outcomes most important to organizational success with a focus on reaching strategic and operational goals;
- Encourage achievement of high productivity within the context of excellent service to patients, students, faculty, and other clients/customers;
- Encourage and support the achievements of collaborative work groups or teams;
- Encourage creativity, innovation, and initiative;
- Promote a working environment that values employee safety.
A brief description of the primary programs is listed below:
Vice Chancellor/Chief Executive Officer Award: This is a monetary award given to an individual who is selected by the Vice Chancellor or the UCDMC Chief Executive Officer. The employee's achievement must meet most of the following criteria: improved organizational performance and operational efficiency, (including cost containment), supports strategic/functional plans and objectives, addresses customer/client needs, quality of care, and contributed significantly to the goals and mission of the University.
Recognition Award/Excellent Achievements Awards: This is a monetary award given to an employee or team whose action was designed to improve service to patients, students, faculty, or other clients/customers or to an individual or team who has completed an excellent achievement as defined by their management.
On the Spot Award: This monetary award is given to an employee in recognition of their achievements and/or contributions.
Non-Cash Award: The University may acknowledge the following work-related events by the presentation of a non-cash award (including MasterCard gift cards, but excluding individual vendor gift cards) to an employee for a recognition, length of service, sympathy, or retirement purpose.
